City council to decide relocation appeal for cannabis business

SALINAS, Calif. —

A Salinas cannabis dispensary is on the brink of eviction, with its fate hinging on a city council decision regarding its appeal to relocate.

The cannabis dispensary is trying to move to the back portion of a closed furniture store on South Main Street.

They have been trying to move to this location for three years and an appeal is his last-ditch effort to try to make that happen.

"It's taken us three years and $800,000 just for us to move our store from one building to another," said Grant Palmer, the owner of CannaCruz.

In 2021, Palmer applied with the city to move into the back end of the closed-down furniture store on South Main Street. This move was necessitated by the decision of the property owner to sell the building.

"This proposed location was the only suitable location we were able to find and is our best and last hope to survive as a business," said Palmer's attorney (Peter Brazil) at a recent planning commission meeting.
